I actually have the same thing, I'm guessing ATI card with DRI drivers? :) it's even worse with ati's proprietary drivers, I'm working on it... sprinkling the code with debug stuff. Haven't found it yet. Doesn't seem to be related to video mem though, because it's also triggered with 128mb cards.
