I proposed that, too when i first read the algo for growth.
at least i proposed to use such a gradient to boost growth calculation. i guess
it is not too bad to generate this at start up as i wouldn't want to have
fertility differ from the rule we have now so there is no real need to store it.
new features (manipulate the ground, fountains, ...) will influence fertility
what should be considered when changing growth.
