Well since they removed "All of the principal causes of climate change
are beyond the control of human beings", which appeared in a previous
draft of their "new" position, it does appear to be a step in the
right direction.  However I think there are still considerable forces
within AAPG that would prefer a contrarian position.  For example, in
2006, one of their in house publications suggested

members should use to become more knowledgable on the subject.

Curiously, comments 1-8 seem to be pro-IPCC views (or at least more so
than the prior AAPG position statement), but below that many
contrarians chime in.
