No. A LDAP database is a ``tree database'', where data are stored on
node and leaf.
With basedn we mean the ``node'' where to start to lookup data, so the
point in the tree where we start.

rootdn instead (and at least for openldap) is a leaf, a data, but also
a user because have a password field.
In openldap rootdn have special mean because could be a normal leaf in
the database, but also a ``special node'' found only in configuration
file, and with some access rule in openldap configuration file, it is
tipically used for administration purpose (like Administrator on NT or
root on UNIX).
For the purpose of glpi (do a bind), this user could be any valid user.

I don't know, the hard part is that *you* have to discover your LDAP
setup, i think reading ad documentation or using google. ;)
