Organisée par le CETRIL, la troisième cérémonie des Trophées du Libre s?est déroulée à Soissons le 30 novembre 2006 après que le jury international ait auditionné les 18 projets finalistes. Les Trophées du Libre étaient présidés cette année par Marc Shuttleworth, Président de la Fondation Ubuntu. Le Trophée d'argent comprend les récompenses suivantes : un magnifique Trophée, une somme de 1000 euros, un Pingouin en peluche Mandriva. Qu?allons nous faire de ce prix de 1000 euros ? La somme de 1000 euros perçue par l?association Indepnet (structure de développement officielle du projet) sera investie dans le projet GLPI et dans le financement des infrastructures. Toutefois, parce qu?il est important de ne pas oublier que GLPI s?appuie sur d?autres projets libres, les développeurs ont décidé qu?une partie de cette somme serait affectée au soutien de projets libres tout aussi méritants (Debian, Gimp...).
