I have crashed GlusterFS as well. Many times. Burned my fingers very hard by trying to use 2.0.1 (some time ago) in production as a store for mail files. But now back to what I wanted to write in the first place: I can not understand that people are complaining all the time but don't give any valuable information. Okay. GlusterFS is crashing in your environment. In one hour you have crashed it. Fine and dandy. But how about not just complaining but sending a stack trace? Some more info how and what you have tested, where it crashed, etc... And while at it: How about YOU going to look at the code and find some real issues with the code and post some patches fixing the issues? Would that not be more productive then just posting a meaningless message to the GlusterFS mailing list complaining that you crashed GlusterFS in one hour with bonnie? I am absolutely on your line regarding the stability of GlusterFS but you have to confess that nothing comes from just complaining. Either you are a part of the solution or you are a part of the problem. By just complaining but not helping in any way you push yourself into the corner being a part of the problem. And please don't reply me with a message that you are just a user and you can't code or what ever. I don't think any one here cares about that fact. The least you can do is help fixing the issue by posting some debug info or a stack trace or any other valuable information regarding the crash. And if you can't do that or you are not willing to do that, then let me tell you that you as "just a user" are absolutely free to choose another solution for your distributed filesystem. GlusterFS is one of many solutions. Feel free to move along and install, try, buy, search, etc another solution but please stop posting messages to the ML with no real content or value. I am in no way related to Z Research. I don't work for them and they have nothing to do with me. I am just an user like you. Like many others out there. But I can't see anymore users complaining all the time and pointing with fingers around but never trying to help to solve the issue. If you need a good example of someone being a user like you and me but actually helping to solve open issues, then please search the ML for a user called "Gordan Bobic". He as well is often complaining but in a constructive way.
