Uwe - There is a name resolution bug in version 3.1, that is the issue you are seeing. If you would like to continue testing the most recent QA version, 3.1.1qa6 resolves the issue, you can get it here - http://download.gluster.com/pub/gluster/glusterfs/qa-releases/glusterfs-3.1.1qa6.tar.gz .
