I am so glad you wrote, lalisap.  I had tried several times and finally
stopped experimenting with the new compose interface and had actually
forgotten about it.  For one thing, I think it requires extra keystrokes to
use some of the options.  For another, the emoticons weren't usable at all.
 In fact, if it weren't for your input here, I wouldn't have known that
they now are functioning.  I expected to be notified by Google when that
happened.  Did anyone receive such notification?  Finally, has anyone found
benefits in the new compose interface that the old doesn't have?
