There are only 3 places where your email messages can be: All Mail Spam Trash
If they are not in one of these three, then they are gone. They don't exist. I don't think Google has an option to restore your account from backup tapes, but that would be the only other means of getting your messages back. If you used POP or IMAP, you would have your own local copies of your messages. That's one of your surest ways to have backups of everything, keeping it under your control.
