You looked in All Mail too, right? If there are no messages in either All Mail, Spam, or Trash, then they are gone, and there is nothing to retrieve. There is a very small chance that this was just a temporary glitch where Gmail couldn't access your database, but I think usually you get an error message rather than the appearance of no messages. The first thing you need to do is figure out how they got deleted. Change your password now. See who has been accessing your account.
