Does this happen with every new message you write?

Does this behavior happen with every new message you write?

I still get only one line -- most of the time. But sometimes if I am
replying to someone else's message, that happens. Rarely. It seems to do
it because the font they used, or the properties attached to the text to
which I am replying, are set up to do that, and my reply continues using
those properties. When it happens, if I choose a different point in their
message to hit return and start typing, I can avoid the problem.

Yahoo is much worse, where a single <Enter> causes the equivalent of about
4 lines of blank text. It's annoying as ... heck.
