So I finally discovered Google Bookmarks and realized this would make my
world a whole lot better than FF Bookmarks in multiple places and sync
issues. So I installed Gmarks addon to FF (3.6 then update to12.0).
There seems to be something awry with setting up the icons in my main
toolbar. In the FF Customize window, I see a Gmark icon (blue unfilled
star), but no text below it to identify what it means. Then there is
another alleged "icon" with no actual icon - just the text below to
identify what it means.

This is visible in the attached file gmarkCustomizeIssue.jPG

I already have a blue unfilled star on my toolbar for Gmarks (it opens the
sidebar). So I don't know what this other one is for. I dragged the "Add
Gmark" text (a/k/a icon) to my toolbar. That produces yet two more
issues.

1. the icon is just a plain box - probalby some undefined/default icon.
2. THe amount of text (yes, I use Icon+Text for my toolbar buttons) is
excessive and is taking too much width. There is "Quick Add Gmark" and
"Add Gmark". Very wide for a toolbar button.

These two issues are visible in the attached file gmakCustomizeIssue2.JPG
(sic).

I can't take up that much width with that text. I can't recognize the
icon's meanings if they are a default box. If I can't add gmarks easily
with toolbar buttons, it probably will defeat the joy of using Google
Bookmarks/Gmarks.

Are there any workarounds I can apply here? (I need the Text option for
icons toolbars to see them well. )

It would be nice if I could abbreviate the text beneath the buttons to my
own liking, but that doesn't seem likely.
