I purchased an Amd 9950X CPU from Amazon Sweden last autumn. Last February the system with this CPU died while running GMP tests. I suspected the motherboard, and purchased a new one.
It turned out to be the CPU which had broken. Well, using the warranty should be no problem, right? We have strong consumer protection laws here, which mandates the sales company to handle warranty returns. In this case Amazon. But they make that impossible through their web interface, and instead link to Amd. Oh, well, not legal but I have no time for this, so I follow the link to Amd. I need to "register an account". But wait, I cannot register an account as my name and address contains "Non-Alphanumeric" characters. OK, so I edit my name, street address and city name. But that still doesn't work as Amd does not allow me to do this as a private individual. They require a company name. I am stuck with an expensive dead Amd CPU which I, according to law, should have replaced. This is completely unacceptable. I will not volunteer any more of my time developing GMP for Amd CPUs. -- Torbjörn Please encrypt, key id 0xC8601622 _______________________________________________ gmp-devel mailing list gmp-devel@gmplib.org https://gmplib.org/mailman/listinfo/gmp-devel
