Found the culprit.

There's no obvious reason why CPP should get
undefined after the changes in configure.ac,
which basically just add a call to GNASH_PKG_FIND
for SSL ...

For sure CPP ends up being undefined early during
configure as ./configure itself raises a lot of messages
like this:

configure: WARNING: expat.h: proceeding with the compiler's resultconfigure: 
WARNING: expat.h: accepted by the compiler, rejected by the preprocessor!
