I'm the author of the Lightspark project, which is an alternative open source flash player with a very good, although not complete yet, support for AS3 and flex of course. Lightspark is not yet mature enough to be used in a production environment, or included in distros, but please keep an eye on the project. http://github.com/alexp-sssup/lightspark In the current status the AS3 virtual machine is stable enough to run a basic flex example, and I'm currently working on more complex flex applications and the new AS3 based youtube player Cheers, Alessandro
