There are a couple of bugs around for MediaHandler and Renderer options not properly handled, and tentative resolutions of them.
It seems to me that the problem here is conceptual, that is: who's in charge of deciding which MediaHandler and which Renderer to use ? It seems to me that the hosting application is the one setting these, but how should it set it ? We have some cases of changing the RcFile directly and some other cases in which RunResources is used.
