On my Yellow Dog PPC box I don't get any of these errors.
I can also build today's cvs on my ibook with debian testing/unstable ppc.

Which distro
are you running ? My suggestion is to do a "cvs update ; ./autogen.sh ;
make clean all" and see if that helps.
