Hi Marek, I had a look at both versions. The first is the best way to do it, because modifying sources is only necessary for packages that contain non-free parts. I see that your first version has 2 extra files in debian/patches. Could it be that you forgot to add MustRead.html with quilt, leading to the debian-changes file?
