The software was reintegrated by update manager.

In order to use  3D applications like compiz or some 3d game, your hardware
(video card) needs free drivers for 3D acceleration.
Intel video cards, and some ati has them.

If you're using nVidia, AFAIK there is no 3d acceleration free drivers
(nuoveau is still on very early development stage), therefor is not possible
to use.
Remember that gNewSense is based on free software only.

gNewSense comes with  compiz as default, as ubuntu hardy does, so it should
be working without any setup (unless you disable it).
