While it is important to create better options, and while Flattr initially looked promising, it is inappropriate for this kind of project because it requires a monthly subscription.

Recurring fees incur a very large administrative overhead and are generally dangerous for non-profit and not-for-profit organizations. If administrative overhead starts approaches %3 then something is *very* wrong.

If there were no subscription fees involved, that would make it more attractive. However, realistically managing a subscription costs time because it has to be checked on at regular intervals.
