Yes, nouveau supports blobless 3d. But it's still very experimental and incomplete. I managed to build it under Arch, but it took me 3 days. The driver has crashed my computer only once by now (I'm using it from two days), but I suppose it will crash again, and again, and again... :) It also requires newer kernel (latest nouveau builds won't work on kernels <2.6.34, due to some interface breakage), newer mesa, and other newer libraries. In Debian GNU/Linux, Nouveau is still in the "experimental" repository. And in Squeeze (gNS 3 will be based on Squeeze) the kernel version is 2.6.32 and it will probably stay that way. Ubuntu backported some features for linux 2.6.32 for their 10.04 release, so nouveau would be usable at least for 2D, but it depends on whether or not Debian will accept these changes for Squeeze, so we can have them in gNS 3 (this seems unlikely to me, but who knows). So I suppose that there won't be any 3d for nvidia in gNS 3.

Regards,
Plamen
