Changing device names could cause such problem
(editing /etc/udev/rules.d/70-persistent-net.rules would fix it), but it
would work correctly with the LiveCD, so it looks like a driver problem.

Is any eth* interface found?  If not, what chipset does the new "network
card" have (lspci should show this)?
