That chip requires non-free firmware to work. gNewSense does not ship with non-free firmware. The best solution is to buy a USB wireless stick that does not require non-free firmware. Thinkpad laptops are picky about replacing the internal wifi card, so it is much easier to use a USB stick. My Thinkpad T61 also requires non-free firmware for the wireless, so I got a USB stick. Have a look at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_open-source_wireless_drivers to see which chipsets are fully free. I got such a USB stick from ThinkPenguin, www.thinkpenguin.com (I am not affiliated with them. I hope mentioning them is not against the list rules). The owner, Chris, is very helpful and they've been selling/working with free hardware for a few years now. If you buy a stick elsewhere, be sure to find out what firmware it uses so you can determine if it will work without non-free firmware. > Please, could you help me to connect via wireless? If you do not get a free wireless replacement chip/stick, then you will have to figure out how to add the non-free firmware yourself. > Thanks in advance for your time and help! > > Cordially, > > Guido > > > > _______________________________________________ > gNewSense-users mailing list > gNewSense-users@nongnu.org > https://lists.nongnu.org/mailman/listinfo/gnewsense-users > Regards, Morne Alberts _______________________________________________ gNewSense-users mailing list gNewSense-users@nongnu.org https://lists.nongnu.org/mailman/listinfo/gnewsense-users
