Having not used up2date in a long time (since 6.2 was pretty new), I have a question. Does it require you register your machine like the graphical rhn stuff from Redhat 8.0 does? I really like the look and feel of RH 8, etc, but I've resorted to red carpet to do updates, cause I didn't want to have to "sign up" to get updates.

I have red-carpet installed on my RH8 system. I find security patches come out on up2date a few days quicker then red-carpet. red-carpet is cool for installing/removing packages even if you don't have the CDs handy. And have a fast internet connection.

Has anyone setup a local internal up2date server?

If you like the apt tools, how about something like apt4rpm?
