Just a thought, but considering that this is a bit of a geekfest, what about a couple of firewall type distros?
Two that I know of off the top of my head: IPCop: http://ipcop.org/ (Linux based, web front end) m0n0wall: http://m0n0.ch/wall/ (FreeBSD based, web front end.
