Doh! you're right. For some reason I had ruled that out because the person who asked me claimed it wasn't sufficient. What I didn't realize was that the 'reset' he was referring to was a menu item within Gnome Term (something he also neglected to tell me :) When he said reset, I thought he was talking about the command line utility.
