I don't think that's the default, or at least it didn't used to be. I remember having explicitly set in the /etc/exports file on the NFS server that nobody=X, because by default nobody used to map to 0, which you might think isn't wise for very blatantly obvious reasons :) Of course, that might just have been on Ultrix...
