Koolu would normally recommend their box as part of a "thin client" solution, with a larger server doing the capture, decoding and then feeding the front end either wired or wireless.
For example, this box has no connection for either OTA or Cable. You could buy a device that fits into the USB port that would do that capture and decoding, but this system box is meant to be the quiet thing in your room that allows you to display the TV, but also access an Ubuntu desktop, do VoIP, etc. Still, that takes a bit of CPU power, just to be the front end. Our Technical Director spent some time improving the X-server that came with Ubuntu to make it be able to playback the video stream the way you saw it, and still have enough power left over to handle VoIP calls, etc. md _______________________________________________ gnhlug-discuss mailing list gnhlug-discuss@mail.gnhlug.org http://mail.gnhlug.org/mailman/listinfo/gnhlug-discuss/
