As a follow-up to the recent discussion about MP3 and closed formats
and patents:

"MP3's Loss, Open Source's Gain", by Eliot Van Buskirk
Wired News, 23 Feb 2007
http://www.wired.com/news/culture/music/0,72785-0.html

In short, the author hypothesises that this could be an impetuous
towards more support for Open/Free formats, like Ogg Vorbis. A bunch
of companies are faced with paying even more money for MP3. Doubtless
they will do so (or go out of business), but this may serve to remind
them that Freedom is good for business, too.

 We can hope. :)
