GNHLUG will be sponsoring a one-table display of Linux at the Near-Fest Ham Event. Since we typically want a lockable, indoor space with power, I signed up as a "commercial vendor", which costs $40. per eight-foot space (and $16 per eight-foot table to go in it). This is considerably more than Hosstraders cost us for the same space.
In addition, when it came time to set up the space we did not know how successful NEAR-FEST will be, so I opted for a smaller space. It is for these reasons that I would like to limit the space to just demos of Linux, making CD sets, etc. instead of the normal "bring all your junk and try to sell it." If you want to do that, then just buy a general admission ($10.) drive your car into the grounds (another $10.) and pick your spot to sell, sell, sell. Be aware that they are not allowing CRTs to be brought in unless they are part of a display, and they will not welcome "heavy metal" the way the old hosstraders did. Admission is $10.00 from Friday 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM; $5.00 thereafter. Vehicular admission to the grounds is $10.00. There are no additional seller fees and no limit on selling spaces. Students (under 21) admitted free as our guests after 9 on Saturday. There is ample free parking immediately outside the fairgrounds. Overnight campers and tents are welcome, and are part of the $10. admission and $10. car fees. RV hookups are available for $30.00. For more information you can go to their ample web site at: http://near-fest.com/ I am going to try to be up there early on Friday and set up the table, etc. If anyone else would be willing to come and help staff the table, that would be most appreciated. Please send me private email and we can coordinate.
