We've standardized on Intel's chipset.  Most of these on the
motherboard, but a few systems which need 3 nics have 1 PCI card in
them (I'm fairly sure they're PCI-X).

2.6.X (X > 16) has good support for these.  A module is available for
2.4.x, but needs to be dropped in as a replacement for the one
which ships with the kernel, and it can't be compiled statically
into the kernel.
