I don't know the brand of my 2.5in. Again this one I bought at MicroCenter for about $5.00. I think it depends on the use. The only reason I use the 3.5 in for is for temporary stuff because the drive is very loud. If you are planning on using it to recover some data then probably the cheap ones might serve you well, or if you plan to use it full time, you may want to consider things like heat dissipation.
