Disk space is cheap. Set your root partition to 8-10GB and you ought
to be fine ...

 For our purposes, I think that would be the best recommendation.

 The "what's the smallest partition I can use" question is mainly
interesting for the particular case where someone has an "existing"
system which they want to use to play around with MythTV, but don't
want to jump in whole-hog yet.  They might want a small internal
partition to get things going, and might use external storage
(USB/1934/eSATA) for recordings.  That is outside the scope of our
efforts with these InstallFests, but might still be nice to know.
