Well, we could do a "GNHLUG Flea", sorta like Hosstraders, but at a
certain nondescript farm in Loudon. Of course, this implies #3.

Dusting off old computer junk (*) that ended up in dark corners of the
cellar, I wonder if there's anything we could do under the GNHLUG mantle
that would help us all get rid of this stuff, provide others with stuff
they want to play with and maybe make some money for ourselves or a
worthy charity. My thoughts include:
1. individual postings to the list with junk for sale.
2. renting a space at the MIT fair and selling off everyone elses' junk
on commission. Profits, if any, or a percentage of sales go to pay for
the table and to some worthy group: FSF/Apache/Python Foundations.
Parallel opportunity to hand out GNHLUG flyers, offer distros like
Hosstraders, proselytize a little, albeit preaching to the choir.
3. organizing a local event, perhaps in coordination with local
meetings.
4. build a web-based swap-barter-sale site.
Pros/cons:
#1 requires no effort nor organization. Seller and buyer work it out.
#2 requires organization and lead time, depending on people to come
forward with their treasures.
#3 could just be a card table set up at the back of UG meetings (I used
to do this in the 80s, selling Commodore software, cables, printer
ribbons, etc. at C=64 groups)
Cons: "we" don't want to get stuck with a pile on non-recyclable toxic
waste.
Questions: have we done anything like this in a an organized fashion
before? If so/if not, did we learn anything?

Dell 486/100 laptop, 24 Mb RAM, 1/2 Gb drive, cute 9" color LCD.
