Can I assume you can ping everything from everywhere using IP and 
names?

Can I assume you have activated TCP/IP protocol and the workgroup name 
is correct for the SAMBA setup, and the password being used is OK?  

If all of the above is correct, then you should run through the test 
in the SAMBA docs for testing the connection to see where it fails.  
My guess is that when you installed a new card, Windows first 
eliminated all config info on the network and then installed the 
default stuff which may well not be what you need for SAMBA.  By 
reviewing the properties for the card and the TCP/IP protocol, you 
should find the gremlin.
