I think they've got it backwards ... Which costs more to provide, web
access or POP3?  Definitely web access.  Which has more customers, web
access of POP3?  Definitely web access.  If they were smart they would
provide POP3 for free, add advertisments to messages downloaded via
POP3, and charge for web access.  It might make them unpopular but it
would probably make them profitable within a week.
