A new gnome goal appeared, about migrate apps using the static
bindings PyGTK to the new PyGI, based on gobject introspection.

A hopefully straight forward question: Does this mean the python/GTK API remains the same, while the stuff underneath contains all the change resides? Or, is this both a change in how the bindings are realized *and* the interface to those bindings?

I'm reading the PyGI page [1] to figure this out, but if there is a simple "yes" or "no", that would help.
