I also would like to see a feature that enables users to append/edit
text they have selected. Lately, Mozilla's Ubiquity plugin gives an
idea: it use the keyword "this" to represent the selected content,
which you can insert at any place in your text.

Maybe we also should consider a similar approach in the Text Mode.
