True, but ubuntu-desktop is a different package. (If I recall, Ubuntu
doesn't even install gnome-desktop.) The reason ubuntu-desktop is important
is that it manages all the packages installed by Ubuntu and is important to
ensure distribution upgrades are successful (managing transitional packages,
etc.).
