It took me a long time to figure this out--Gnome Do documentation is sparse--so hopefully I'll save you the trouble. Once you set Gmail as the default email app, (In Preferred Applications, set 'Mail Reader' to 'Custom' and then enter "firefox %s" in the command field. Then set Firefox to use Gmail--assuming you are using Firefox.) you can use the plugin to email a contact. Type the name of the contact, then the right arrow to view the contact information. Highlight the email address, THEN HIT 'TAB' AND TYPE 'email'. That was the missing piece that frustrated me for so long. The intuitive response is to select the email address and hit 'enter.' Unfortunately the logical step won't work. Hopefully this eliminates some frustration.
