First of all sorry for not replying earlier... anyway, let's go to the point:

Yep: a part from possible future improvements, the abilities of WebDo are pretty similar to the ones of the OpenSearch plugin. >> [...] generating a new one is as simple as filling in this webform: >> http://mycroft.mozdev.org/submitos.html For sure the OpenSearch plugin is much easier to setup, but fas pointed the main issue: > I find it quite annoying that you have to select "Search Web" first > and only then which service you want. In launchy/wbby, the access to a > search service is much faster (example: type "wiki" [TAB] "something > interesting" versus Gnome Do: "something interesting" [TAB] [select > "Search Web" [tab] [select wiki]"). Let's follow the same example. With the launchy/wbby approach the more I use the wiki link the faster I will be able to use it. With the OpenSearch approach I will always take the same time for opening the wikipedia page. Moreover (at least in my case but for sure it's really common), writing "something interesting" a lot of items will pop out (rhythmbox songs/albums/artists, firefox links...) and because of this is not always immediate to understand if "something interesting" is correctly spelled. For these same reasons I use the google maps plugin instead of OpenSearch. > I didn't check out yet whether WebDo solves this problem. Yes, WebDo solves this problem. For sure is not a perfect solution, but it works. Anyway, I needed something working like launchy/wbby and that's why I developed WebDo. Whoever has the same need can use it. I hope someone in the GnomeDo team could understand the reasons of this approach. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "GNOME Do" group.
