Hi, When the the compilation of a regular expression fails we just set the GError message to the *untranslated* string returned by PCRE (the library we use for regular expression handling). See bug #482313[1] and patch #99501[2].
The patch adds 44 new translatable error messages. If some languages will miss the translations of the new strings, nothing would change from the current situation, so it should be safe to commit the patch.
