po files don't have numbers. You seem to refer to
#: ../data/org.gnome.evolution.mail.gschema.xml.in.h:209

If strings are not clear you should file a bug report in
bugzilla.gnome.org against the application and link to documentation, so
developers know that adding a translator comment is welcome:
https://wiki.gnome.org/TranslationProject/DevGuidelines/Use%20comments
After fixing, all translators can find the added translator comment in
the po file. That's more helpful than documenting the interpretation of
random strings on some random mailing list. :)

Technically you cannot expunge any messages in virtual folders, because
those folders are only virtual (a filtered view of messages located in
several physical folders, based on criteria you defined).
I guess that setting was itnroduced as users asked "Why can't I expunge
my (virtual) Trash and Junk folders?" so enabling that will expunge ALL
physical folders that "provide" at least one message to that virtual
folder. It is not possible to expunge only certain messages in a
physical folder - you can only expunge *all* messages marked for
deletion in a physical folder.

Feel free to rephrase. :P In general: Rather unimportant, these are
GSettings and NOT shown in the UI (except for in dconf-editor).
