At some point i was a happy evolution and tomboy user. So i went to tomboy's developers and asked "why tomboy was not using evolution(embedded)-data-server to store their notes?"

Evolution-data-server is already generic for mail etc.

i don't really know if eds is only email but also notes, contacts, etc.

I was answered "because we(I?) don't use evolution".

It is separate from evolution itself.

this is why a common storage could be useful.

Evolution-data-server doesn't depend on evolution. Name is just a bit
confusing.

i know. But ... for that answer you can see that people look at others' storage solutions as dependencies and not as common solutions.
