That's too bad there are so few backports for other gnome components
. Six months is too short to migrate to another version in a coorporate
environment and this bug was really annoying ( since it made the whole
desktop freeze)

Could this patch solves the problem for 2.10 ? I have to apply it
to 50 users in a corporate environment, so I don't want to be
wrong :-)
There was some other changes needed to (renaming the lock variable in
gnome-vfs-mime.c). I commited this to the 2.10 branch. You could test
that.
