Thanks, but that does not appear to work either.
I keep seeing errors of the following type when trying to do anything involving
jhbuild (including trying to run the "build shell” and building Python per the
instructions on the page you referenced.

raise KeyError(key)
KeyError: 'CFLAGS'
jhbuild: could not load config file
I am trying to build under Mac OS 10.9 (Mavericks) using the latest Xcode and
the "command line tools"
