I might have been a bit keen on this
It did work for a bit with the earlier kernel and then it stopped
now it does the same with both - tv time work fine with both
Is there something I can do to see if its ekiga or not

Then I would report it as a driver bug... Not an ekiga bug.

Report it to the kernel maintainers for your distribution, as
apparently, it is the same kernel release, so the code should be
identical. Perhaps it is a specific patch.
