Not sure if this will help you, but...
I used to have similar problem when accessing CVS remotely.
I solved it by copying CVS repository to the same machine wher cscvs is running from.
Milan.

I've been using cscvs successfully to arch-port two projects (daily) now, but there's one where I can't actually seem to create a cache.
The package in question is Quagga, a fork of GNU Zebra, at www.quagga.net. The process looks something like this:
% cvs -d :pserver:[EMAIL PROTECTED]:/var/cvsroot login Logging in to :pserver:[EMAIL PROTECTED]:2401/var/cvsroot CVS password: <enter> % cvs -z3 -d :pserver:[EMAIL PROTECTED]:/var/cvsroot co -dcvs quagga [snip long list of files checked out] % cd cvs % cscvs cache -b CSCVS_LIBS: [snip various paths] [wait 2 secs] cvs [log aborted]: received broken pipe signal Set remote repository location to /var/cvsroot/quagga [wait 10 secs] [snip traceback] ValueError: reached end of revs with 4 revs remaining cvs [rlog aborted]: received broken pipe signal zsh: exit 1 cscvs cache -b
(I can provide more details if needed.)
Have I stumbled upon some known issue?
