>From someone (Linus?) on lkml: Similarly, the fact that rms and the FSF has tried to paint Linux as a GNU project (going as far as trying to rename it "GNU/Linux" at every opportunity they get) is their confusion, not ours.
Not Richard, nor the FSF try to portray Linux as being a GNU project, never did, never will. On the other hand, Linus et al are trying to portray the GNU system as if it was part of Linux, which it is not by calling GNU/Linux for "the Linux operating system" or short "Linux". Atleast we have the decency to give credit to the Linux developers by explictly calling the variant of GNU which is used for GNU/Linux. Why do I bother... It is quite common knowledge that Linus doesn't spend time understanding things, and makes incorrect assumptions all the time. _______________________________________________ gnu-misc-discuss mailing list [email protected] http://lists.gnu.org/mailman/listinfo/gnu-misc-discuss
