Tamreen Khan presents: Pharen, the Lisp to PHP Compiler
PHP has been criticized for, among other things, simply
being bad. Pharen is a Lisp to PHP compiler that tries to
solve the syntactic side of this issue by taking code in a
lispy dialect and spitting out the PHP equivalent.
The presentation covers the rationale of the project,
features that make it lispy (parentheses, tail recursion
optimization, macros) and features that make it work with
PHP.
Tamreen Khan is a student studying computer science at NYU. He usually
works with PHP or Python, sometimes professionally and has
occasionally made some even worse languages.
